Every 2026 Traverse runs the same powertrain: a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. It replaced the old V6 and matches its headline numbers while improving efficiency, and it runs on regular 87-octane fuel. EPA estimates are 22 mpg combined (20 city / 26 highway) on front-wheel-drive models and 21 mpg combined (20 / 24) with all-wheel drive.

Front-wheel drive is standard on the LT, High Country, and RS, with all-wheel drive available for about $2,000. The off-road Z71 comes with an advanced twin-clutch AWD system standard.
