2027 Corvette Grand Sport X

The all-wheel-drive car, and the vehicle that replaces the E-Ray for 2027. The same LS6 V8 drives the rear wheels, rated at 535 hp at 6,600 rpm and 520 lb-ft, and an electric drive unit on the front axle adds 186 hp and 145 lb-ft, for 721 horsepower combined. A 1.9 kWh lithium-ion battery feeds the front motor and charges itself from the engine and from regenerative braking, so it charges itself as you drive and never needs plugging in. It runs 0-60 mph in 2.4 seconds and the quarter mile in 10.4 seconds at 131 mph with available equipment. Carbon-ceramic brakes and Magnetic Ride Control are standard. One note on that table: neither car carries a factory tow rating or a payload rating, because a two-seat mid-engine sports car is not rated for either.

More usefully for a car in Northwest Arkansas, all-wheel drive changes what a cold, wet morning looks like: power goes down on a damp surface without waiting for the rear tires to find grip. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard rather than optional, the head-up display starts one model level earlier, and Stealth mode will move the car on electricity alone to about 50 mph. It is the quicker car and the more usable one in weather.
