2026 Chevy Tahoe RST

The street-focused Tahoe — blacked-out styling, 22-inch wheels, and the only path below the flagship to the 420-hp 6.2L V8.

2026 Chevrolet Tahoe RST at George Nunnally Chevrolet

The 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe RST is the sport-appearance trim in a six-trim lineup, and it starts at $68,700 in rear-wheel drive or $71,700 with four-wheel drive, both excluding the destination charge. It is the sport look done properly: blacked-out exterior trim, 22-inch wheels, and a menu of hardware — the 6.2L V8, Four-Corner Air Ride, Magnetic Ride Control — that the trims beneath it cannot be ordered with. For a Northwest Arkansas driver who spends the week on I-49 and US-71B and wants the Tahoe that looks the part, this is the one.

What the RST Adds Over the LT

The RST sits one step above the LT, and the jump buys more than a badge. The LT rides on 18-inch wheels and is limited to the 5.3L V8 or the Duramax diesel. The RST brings the dark sport styling, larger wheels, and — the real difference — the option list that unlocks the 6.2L V8 and the two adaptive suspensions.

Three Engines, and the One That Matters

Rear-wheel drive is standard on the RST and four-wheel drive is available. Every RST includes the 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 at no extra cost, and from there the trim opens up to two engines the LT never sees. All three pair with a 10-speed automatic.

6.2L EcoTec3 V8420 hp / 460 lb-ftAvailablePremium recommended
3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel305 hp / 495 lb-ftAvailableDiesel

The 6.2L is the headline. At 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft it is the strongest gas engine you can put in a Tahoe short of the High Country, and the RST is the least expensive trim that offers it. If outright pull without the diesel's fuel bill is the goal, this is where it lives.

Air Ride, Magnetic Ride, and 22-Inch Wheels

Two adaptive suspensions are on the RST's option list and nowhere lower in the range. Magnetic Ride Control reads the road and adjusts damping continuously; Four-Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension adds automatic load leveling and can raise ground clearance to roughly 10 inches from the standard 8. On 22-inch wheels — the largest the RST wears — either one is the difference between a big SUV that floats and one that stays composed on a rough stretch of US-71B.

Inside, the RST carries the same standard technology as the rest of the 2026 range: a 17.7-inch touchscreen, an 11-inch driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the standard Chevrolet Safety Assist suite. Super Cruise hands-free driving is available, and on a run down I-49 to Fayetteville it changes the character of the drive more than any single spec on this page.

Pricing

The RST starts at $68,700 in rear-wheel drive and $71,700 with four-wheel drive, each excluding the $2,795 destination charge. That places it third from the bottom of the six-trim lineup, above the LS and LT and below the Premier and High Country. The RST is the value entry point for the 6.2L V8 and the adaptive suspensions; climbing higher for those features costs meaningfully more.

RST or Z71?

These two sit close on price and far apart in purpose. The RST is the street trim: rear-wheel drive standard, four-wheel drive optional, dark sport styling, 22-inch wheels, and the only door to the 6.2L V8 and the air suspensions. The Z71 is the hardware trim: four-wheel drive standard with a two-speed transfer case, an aluminum skid plate, all-terrain tires on 20-inch wheels, and the off-road gear the RST does not carry. At four-wheel drive the RST ($71,700) runs about $1,000 above the Z71 ($70,700), so this is a decision about how you drive, not about how much you spend.

Buy the RST if your Tahoe lives on pavement between Bentonville and Rogers and you want the engine and the look. Buy the Z71 if the pavement ends before your driveway does. The full step-up costs are on the trim comparison page.

Towing and Fuel

The RST carries the same standard trailering equipment as the rest of the range and the Max Trailering Package is available. Tow ratings belong to one engine at a time: with the 5.3L V8, rear-wheel drive, and the Max Trailering Package, a Tahoe is rated to pull up to 8,400 pounds. Ordered with the 6.2L V8, the rating is 8,200 pounds. With the Duramax diesel it is also 8,200 pounds. Any of the three has the low-end strength to back a boat down the ramp at Prairie Creek on Beaver Lake without drama; the towing page breaks the numbers down by configuration.

On fuel, the 6.2L returns 20 mpg highway in rear-wheel drive and 18 mpg highway with four-wheel drive, and it asks for premium. The 5.3L takes regular and matches the 6.2L at 20 mpg highway in rear-wheel drive. If the RST's look appeals but the fuel bill does not, the Duramax is available here and returns 26 mpg highway in rear-wheel drive.
